What age group is suitable for the Intro Piano classes at Orrett Music Academy?
The Intro Piano classes are designed for children ages 4 to 8, providing a tailored and engaging introduction to piano playing.
Does my child need any prior musical experience to join the piano classes?
No prior musical experience is required. Our Intro Piano classes are beginner-friendly and cater to children exploring music for the first time. We also offer Modern Piano and Classical Piano students looking for more advanced lessons.
How long are the sessions for Intro Piano classes, and how often do they occur?
Orrett Music Academy Intro Piano classes typically last 30 minutes, once or twice a week.
What is covered in the curriculum of the Intro Piano classes?
Most students use the piano book “Orrett Expeditions” which is a lesson book of songs and methods composed by Orrett Music Academy staff made exclusively for Orrett students!
Are parents involved in the learning process?
We encourage parents to ask their child(ren) to play what they learn in class at home in a fun way. Parents are generally not in the room during class time but are invited to attend performances. We do have an open-door policy that invites parents to sit in on parts of some classes to help stay engaged and support the student.
We believe in the learning triangle which states that the parent, teacher, and child are equally vital to the success of the student. While we will work hard to ensure the student stays motivated, engaged, and progresses, at this age, we find the most successful students have parents who are actively involved.
Are there piano group lessons available, in addition to individual?
Intro Piano lessons are for young students who need individual instruction, with a caring teacher who can give them one-on-one help. If you are looking for a group class, please visit our Group Music Class page for options.
Can my child switch to other instruments after trying the piano classes?
Absolutely. You can try multiple instruments when book a trial and see which is the best fit. We also offer different styles of piano lessons such as Modern Piano and Classical Piano.
What benefits do piano classes offer to young children?
Piano lessons are for young beginner piano enthusiasts who need a guiding hand. Our instructors go at a slower pace, spending about 20-25 minutes at the piano mixed with 5-10 minutes of educational activities that allow students to move, sing, and learn one-on-one.
Is there an opportunity for the students to showcase their progress?
Yes, students are encouraged to participate in performances to share their musical achievements. Regular recitals and events provide platforms for them to demonstrate their skills.
